Question 1

Does PawChef provide formal pet-food certification?

Accepted Answer

No. PawChef checks 7 core nutritional targets using selected public AAFCO/NRC baselines, but does not conduct feeding trials, formulate against every AAFCO nutrient, or provide regulatory certification.

Question 2

Can I feed PawChef recipes long-term?

Accepted Answer

PawChef recipes are designed as a nutritional starting point for home-cooked feeding. For long-term use, we recommend pairing with a broad-spectrum veterinary vitamin-mineral supplement and consulting your veterinarian to ensure complete nutritional coverage.

Question 3

Why does PawChef add calcium automatically?

Accepted Answer

Home-cooked diets using boneless meat are almost universally calcium-deficient. Without supplementation, the calcium-to-phosphorus ratio (Ca:P) can become dangerously inverted, potentially leading to skeletal issues over time. PawChef calculates the precise calcium carbonate dose needed to bring Ca:P within the AAFCO-recommended range.

Question 4

Is PawChef suitable for pets with health conditions?

Accepted Answer

PawChef applies condition-specific nutrient constraints (e.g., phosphorus restriction for kidney disease, fat limits for canine pancreatitis) based on published veterinary guidelines. However, these adjustments cover only the nutrients currently implemented. For pets with serious health conditions, we strongly recommend working with your veterinarian.
